KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has been instructed to conduct a thorough inspection of the entire electrical infrastructure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to prevent future disruptions in the event of unexpected incidents.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the directive was necessary after preliminary findings showed that yesterday’s power outage at KLIA Terminal 2 was caused by overheating cables and wiring that caught fire.

“I have directed MAHB to review the entire electrical system to ensure uninterrupted operations and continuous power supply under any circumstances. What matters most is that the backup system must kick in immediately. Taking 28 minutes to restore power is far too long and unacceptable,” he said in a video posted on Facebook.

Yesterday, MAHB confirmed a temporary power outage at KLIA Terminal 2 due to a flashover involving cable termination but assured that airport operations were not affected, as critical systems remained functional. — Bernama
