TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — The Transport Ministry is set to roll out basic language and driver etiquette training for taxi drivers in preparation for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
Loke emphasized that the taxi industry plays a vital role beyond just transportation, as it often forms tourists’ first impression of the country and reflects the heart of Malaysia’s public service.
To further support taxi drivers, he announced that the government has increased the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contribution incentive from 10 per cent to 30 per cent, aiming to better protect their safety and welfare.
“These reforms are ongoing, and I will continue to collaborate with the industry to enhance the public transport sector for the benefit of all,” Loke wrote in a Facebook post.
Earlier, he officiated the third annual general meeting of the Malaysia Taxi, Rental Car, Limousine and Airport Taxi Association (GTSM), where he had the chance to engage directly with industry stakeholders.
Loke added that lasting improvements in the sector can only be achieved through close cooperation with key players like GTSM. — Bernama
