WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
KOTA BARU, July 4 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has questioned 61 individuals to assist in its ongoing investigation into the Maju Expressway (MEX II) extension project.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the development, stating that all the witnesses were recently called in as part of the probe. He added that the value of assets seized from a “Tan Sri” figure under investigation remains unchanged.
“I’ve instructed my officers to finalise the investigation papers within two months, but I’m confident they’ll be ready for submission to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) even sooner,” he said during a press conference held after the handover ceremony of the new Kelantan MACC director Azmin Yusoff, succeeding Rosli Husain, yesterday.
On May 29, MACC seized various high-value assets—including luxury cars, jewellery, designer handbags, and RM32 million in cash—from the prominent businessman. The items were reportedly confiscated during raids on two of his residences in the capital, as part of investigations into false claims and alleged misuse of loan bonds for a Klang Valley highway construction project.
The 18-kilometre MEX II highway, intended to connect Putrajaya to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), began construction in 2016 and was originally scheduled for completion in December 2019.
Last month, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the government is collaborating with all stakeholders to address the delays in the MEX II project, which have been attributed to financial issues. — Bernama
