KOTA TINGGI, April 20 — A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until April 26 in connection with a shooting incident in Taman Kota Jaya that left three people dead yesterday.
NEW DELHI, April 5 — Malaysia is confident of surpassing two million tourist arrivals from India, maintaining optimism that travel demand will remain strong despite global disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.
Malaysian High Commissioner to India, Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa, said rising interest among Indian travellers continues to drive positive momentum, which is expected to carry forward.
“In 2024, Malaysia recorded over 1.36 million arrivals from India, increasing by nearly 15 per cent to 1.56 million in 2025. With this upward trend, we are targeting 2.1 million Indian visitors in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
“While the situation in West Asia has influenced global trade and travel patterns, we believe conditions will stabilise and traveller confidence will continue to improve in the coming months,” he said during the Visit Malaysia Carnival 2026 in New Delhi on Saturday.
The event drew around 2,000 attendees, including families, students and members of the diplomatic community, who enjoyed vibrant cultural performances and Malaysian cuisine at the High Commission of Malaysia.
Various business groups also participated, showcasing their roles in strengthening Malaysia-India economic ties. — Bernama
