PUTRAJAYA, June 20 — Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will lead Malaysia’s delegation to the 51st Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting, taking place in Istanbul, Turkiye, from June 21 to 22, 2025.

According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry yesterday, the meeting will bring together foreign ministers and representatives from 57 OIC Member States.

During the session, Mohamad is expected to deliver a National Statement outlining Malaysia’s stance on key OIC-related issues, including strong support for Palestine and the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

The statement will also address the growing threat of Islamophobia and religious hatred, while emphasising the importance of economic cooperation and highlighting Malaysia’s initiatives in advancing OIC objectives.

Held under the theme “OIC in a Transforming World”, the meeting aims to reach consensus on shared strategies for tackling political, socio-economic, and cultural challenges facing the Ummah. The session is expected to adopt the Istanbul Declaration along with nearly 146 resolutions.

The gathering will also serve as a crucial platform to strengthen unity and collaboration among OIC Member States in the pursuit of peace and stability, particularly in light of rising tensions in the Middle East. — Bernama
