KOTA TINGGI, April 20 — A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until April 26 in connection with a shooting incident in Taman Kota Jaya that left three people dead yesterday.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — Malaysia’s supply of medical devices remains stable and well-managed despite the global energy crisis impacting the availability of certain high-risk imported products.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said it is closely monitoring the situation while continuing to implement mitigation measures to safeguard the country’s healthcare system.
As part of its proactive approach, the Medical Device Authority (MDA) has concluded a strategic agreement with Chinese authorities to boost the supply of resin and naphtha for local industrial use.

The ministry said the initiative is aimed at strengthening the supply chain and ensuring uninterrupted production of essential medical devices, with the additional raw materials expected to help ease current shortages.
The agreement was reached following strategic discussions led by the MDA chief executive, who also chairs the Global Harmonisation Working Party (GHWP), together with representatives from the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Administration and the Pudong New Area leadership.
“The Malaysian government appreciates China’s strong commitment in supporting the stability of raw material supply chains for the regional medical device industry,” the statement said.
MOH added that it will continue to monitor developments closely to ensure medical supplies are distributed efficiently and responsibly according to clinical needs, for the benefit of the public. — Bernama
