TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — National men’s doubles shuttler Man Wei Chong says he and his partner Tee Kai Wun are prioritising consistent performances over chasing titles as they gear up for the Japan and China Opens later this month.
The 25-year-old, who has clinched two titles this season, believes that strong, steady performances will naturally lead to good results.
“We shouldn’t be too focused on the outcome. If we maintain our performance, the results will follow,” he said during a training session at the Akademi Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara yesterday.
“That’s the best way to ease the pressure on ourselves. We need to stay focused and give our best in the second half of the season.”
Wei Chong described their recent semi-final defeat at the Indonesia Open — where they lost to home favourites Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani — as a useful experience in dealing with a hostile crowd.
“The Indonesian fans naturally supported their own players. It was something we had to manage, and hopefully we can learn from it,” he added.
The pair previously won the Indonesia Masters in January and the Malaysia Masters in May.
National men’s doubles head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi has also challenged his players to bring home at least one title from the upcoming tournaments.
The Japan Open is scheduled for July 15 to 20 in Tokyo, while the China Open will run from July 22 to 27 in Changzhou. — Bernama
