PUTRAJAYA, April 20 — The National Audit Department (JAN) has firmly denied any involvement in schemes requesting payments for audit verification, fund disbursement, or certificate issuance, as alleged in recently circulated letters and advertisements.

In a statement today, JAN said it takes seriously the misuse of its name and identity, particularly in relation to audit matters and payment claims for a so-called “External Audit Clearance Certificate” (EACC).

“JAN confirms that the letter being circulated is fraudulent, including the unauthorised use of an officer’s name and signature,” the statement said.

The department has lodged a police report over the misuse of its identity and the falsification of documents, and authorities are expected to take further action.

JAN also warned the public not to fall for such scams and advised against making any payments to individuals or parties claiming to represent the department for audit-related matters or certificate issuance.

It further urged the public to stay alert to any misuse of its name. — Bernama
