KOTA TINGGI, April 20 — A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until April 26 in connection with a shooting incident in Taman Kota Jaya that left three people dead yesterday.
IPOH, April 6 — Projects under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) will proceed as planned despite the global energy crisis, its minister Nga Kor Ming said.
He noted that none of the ministry’s initiatives have required postponement so far, as they are focused on public welfare rather than large-scale mega developments.
“Most KPKT projects prioritise the well-being of the people. At this stage, I don’t see any need to delay them, as we are not dealing with billion-ringgit mega projects but people-centric initiatives that are already being actively carried out, such as the People’s Residency Project (PRR), which will continue,” he said.
Nga made the remarks during a press conference after officiating the upgrading of the Greentown Utama Food Court today, in the presence of KPKT secretary-general Datuk Dr M Noor Azman Taib and Ipoh mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah.
He also revealed that the groundbreaking ceremony for the RM150 million PRR project in Tambun is scheduled for June, with the development expected to set a new standard for quality affordable housing, featuring amenities like a central park and a recreational lake.
“I will request the mayor to help speed up the approval of building plans. We aim for this to be one of the best PRR projects, equipped with modern facilities and serving as a benchmark for high-quality affordable housing,” he added.
Previously, Nga announced that Perak’s first PRR project would be developed in Tambun at a cost of RM150 million. — Bernama
