WASHINGTON, April 27 — A man accused of targeting US administration officials at a Washington event has been arrested after allegedly opening fire, injuring a Secret Service agent.
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Chicken prices have remained stable despite the removal of subsidies on November 1, 2023, the Dewan Rakyat was informed today.
Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said that before subsidies were lifted, the market still struggled with price control even under a government-imposed price cap.
“One of our key strategies was targeting chicken feed cartels, as feed makes up 70 per cent of production costs. So, we focused on reducing production costs instead,” she said.
Fuziah added that since the removal of subsidies, the ministry has been collecting daily chicken price data to assess the effectiveness of the measures.
“Although there are no subsidies now, we continue to regulate the supply chain and monitor prices. So far, prices have remained stable and in some cases, even declined,” she said in response to a question from Mohammed Taufiq Johari (PH–Sungai Petani). — Bernama
