Number of Flood Evacuees in Sabah Increases to 1,748 as More Districts Impacted

KOTA KINABALU, March 9 — The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has climbed to 1,748 individuals from 570 families as of 8 a.m. today, a significant increase from 1,010 people from 325 families reported at 8 p.m. yesterday.‍

KOTA KINABALU, March 9 — The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has climbed to 1,748 individuals from 570 families as of 8 a.m. today, a significant increase from 1,010 people from 325 families reported at 8 p.m. yesterday.

In a statement, the Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat confirmed that Keningau and Sook became the latest districts affected by floods this morning.

According to the statement, 133 people from 50 families have been relocated to two temporary relief centres (PPS) in Keningau, while 130 people from 40 families have been moved to one PPS in Sook.

Beaufort remains the most affected district, with 780 evacuees from 249 families housed in two PPS, while Membakut has relocated 705 people from 231 families to one PPS.

“A total of 24 villages have been impacted—10 each in Beaufort and Membakut, and two each in Keningau and Sook. The evacuation trend in Beaufort remains stable, but numbers are rising in other districts,” the statement added. — Bernama
