TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
SUNGAI BULOH, July 4 — The Health Ministry has acknowledged the heavy patient load at referral hospitals like Sungai Buloh Hospital, amid concerns over doctor fatigue and overcrowding.
This follows online claims that the Orthopaedic Specialist Clinic at the hospital had to manage 300 patients on June 30, 2025. In response, the ministry clarified that the figure included accompanying family members or caregivers, not just patients.
“We recognise the challenges faced by patients and their families, particularly with long waiting times,” the ministry said in a statement posted on X yesterday.
It added that efforts are ongoing to improve patient flow in high-demand facilities such as Sungai Buloh Hospital.
According to the ministry, a review of the clinic's records showed that 158 patients were actually seen that day.
“The inclusion of family members or caregivers is common in public healthcare settings, especially for elderly patients or children,” it explained.
The ministry was addressing a viral social media post that featured a photo of a staff notice claiming only three medical officers and one specialist were assigned to handle 300 patients.
However, the ministry refuted this, stating that the clinic was in fact staffed by three specialists and three medical officers, in line with the standard duty roster and available resources.
