RIO DE JANEIRO, July 7 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh, today on the sidelines of the two-day BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Brazil’s second-largest city.

Anwar was accompanied by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, and Deputy Secretary-General for Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Ahmad Rozian Abd Ghani.

This marks another engagement between the two leaders, who previously met at the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur in May and during Anwar’s visit to Hanoi for the 2nd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) 2025 in February.

Malaysia is currently Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner within ASEAN and ninth overall globally. Bilateral trade between the two nations continues to grow, reaching US$14.2 billion (RM60 billion) in 2024, with a target of US$18 billion set for this year. — Bernama
