KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — The motorcycle used by two men suspected of attacking the son of former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli at a Putrajaya shopping mall yesterday evening was found to be using a fake registration number.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said checks on the number plate confirmed it was false, and police are actively hunting for the suspects.

“So far, we have confirmed there were two attackers, but their identities have not yet been determined,” he told reporters today.

Police are also working to identify the liquid believed to have been inside

The incident occurred around 2pm yesterday at the passenger pick-up and drop-off zone of the mall. The victim, a young boy, is receiving further medical examination at a hospital in Selangor, and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene

Rafizi confirmed in a statement that the victim was his son, adding that two men in black clothing and helmets had followed his wife’s car on a motorcycle before one of them forcibly pulled the boy away and stabbed him with a hypodermic needle. — Bernama
