KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — A fire that broke out early this morning in Bagan Pasir Laut, Hutan Melintang, destroyed 21 houses, a temple, and a food stall.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Assistant Operations Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 4.52am.

Firefighters from the Hutan Melintang station were immediately deployed to the scene, with additional support from the Teluk Intan station and the Sungai Tiang Volunteer Fire Brigade.

“The fire spread rapidly due to the close arrangement of the houses and low water pressure from nearby hydrants,” he said.

The blaze was brought under control by 7.30am. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

“Operations are still ongoing to ensure no remaining embers reignite the fire,” he added.
