PARIS, Aug 12 — European champions Paris Saint-Germain have signed Ukrainian centre-back Illia Zabarnyi from Premier League side Bournemouth, the club announced on Tuesday.

“Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to welcome Illia Zabarnyi,” the statement read, noting that the 22-year-old will become the first Ukrainian to play for the club.

Zabarnyi enjoyed an impressive 2024-2025 campaign in England, and his arrival in Paris is expected to increase competition for PSG’s Brazilian captain Marquinhos in central defence.

His departure marks the third major defensive loss for Bournemouth this season, following Milos Kerkez’s move to Premier League champions Liverpool and Dean Huijsen’s transfer to Real Madrid. — AFP
