LONDON, July 9 — Red Bull have announced the dismissal of Christian Horner as team principal after two decades in the role.

The 51-year-old Briton had been the longest-serving team principal in Formula One, having led the team since its debut in 2005.

“Effective today (Wednesday, July 9, 2025), Red Bull has relieved Christian Horner of his operational duties and appointed Laurent Mekies as CEO of Red Bull Racing,” the team said in a statement.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments, expressed gratitude for Horner’s outstanding contributions over the past 20 years.

Red Bull also confirmed that Alan Permane, currently Racing Director, will step up as team principal of Racing Bulls.

Red Bull currently sit fourth in the constructors’ standings with 172 points, trailing championship leaders McLaren by 288 points. — Reuters
