LONDON, June 20 — Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is among six nominees announced today for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award.

The 33-year-old forward was a pivotal figure in Liverpool’s Premier League title win last season, racking up 29 goals and 18 assists.

Salah has already been named Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association, earning nearly 90 per cent of the vote — the largest margin of victory this century — and is widely tipped to claim the PFA accolade as well.

Also on the shortlist are Salah’s Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, and Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes.

Palmer, who was named PFA Young Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season, was a surprising inclusion given his inconsistent form for Chelsea.

Rice enjoyed a standout season with Arsenal, scoring a personal-best nine goals and providing 10 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions.

Isak netted 23 goals for Newcastle, playing a key role in securing a Champions League spot and helping end the club’s 56-year wait for a major trophy by winning the League Cup.

Despite Manchester United enduring their worst top-flight campaign since 1973-74, Fernandes remained a bright spot, contributing eight league goals and 10 assists.
