KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 — National squash star S. Sivasangari’s bid to reach the semi-finals of the 2024/2025 PSA Squash Tour Finals came to an end after she suffered her second straight loss in Group B on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was edged out by Egypt’s Fayrouz Aboelkheir in a tightly contested 41-minute match, losing 11-10, 9-11, 7-11 at the Revival Film Studio in Toronto.

Sivasangari claimed the opening game 11-10 but was unable to sustain her momentum, eventually conceding the next two games 9-11 and 7-11.

This latest defeat follows her loss on opening day to second seed Olivia Weaver of the United States, where the Kedah-born player fell in straight games, 9-11, 9-11.

Weaver extended her unbeaten run in Group B with a 3-11, 11-6, 11-6 victory over Japan’s Satomi Watanabe in 31 minutes.

With one group match remaining, the second semi-final spot in Group B remains up for grabs, as both Watanabe and Aboelkheir have secured one win each.

The PSA Tour Finals gathers the world’s top eight players, split into two groups, with only the top two from each advancing to the semi-finals. — Bernama
