KOTA BHARU, Aug 18 — The Malaysian Army (TDM) apprehended 10 Myanmar nationals who were attempting to illegally cross Sungai Golok from Thailand into Malaysia.

According to a statement issued yesterday by TDM’s 2nd Infantry Division, the undocumented migrants (PATI) consisted of four men and six women, aged between 19 and 35. Some were found to be in possession of Myanmar identification documents and passports.

The statement added that several personal items — including mobile phones and cash in Malaysian, Myanmar and Thai currencies — were seized.

It also noted that a Mitsubishi Pajero believed to be involved in the smuggling attempt was intercepted, but the suspected smuggler fled back across Sungai Golok into Thailand.
