KLANG, March 31 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that Iran has guaranteed safe passage for Malaysian vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, addressing recent regional security concerns.

Loke clarified that Malaysian ships will be exempt from tolls while transiting the strait. He attributed this privilege to the strong diplomatic ties and friendly relationship between the two nations.

The minister confirmed that the Iranian ambassador verified the toll exemption. This development has already been reported to the National Economic Action Council to ensure continued economic stability.

While several Malaysian vessels are currently anchored and awaiting their turn to enter the strategic waterway, Loke assured the public that the situation remains fully under control.

The diplomatic breakthrough follows reports that seven Malaysian ships were delayed. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan confirmed that Tehran has agreed to a departure window for these vessels.

The announcement was made during a press conference in Setia Alam, where local philanthropists donated RM1 million to SMJK Chan Wa. Malaysia continues to monitor the situation closely.
