TOKYO, June 20 — Japan has decided to increase visa fees for foreign visitors for the first time since 1978, raising single-entry visa charges fivefold to 15,000 yen (about US$90 or RM384.83) from 3,000 yen (RM76.97), effective from July.

TOKYO, June 20 — Japan has decided to increase visa fees for foreign visitors for the first time since 1978, raising single-entry visa charges fivefold to 15,000 yen (about US$90 or RM384.83) from 3,000 yen (RM76.97), effective from July.

The government also announced that multiple-entry visa fees will rise from 6,000 yen (RM153.94) to 30,000 yen (RM769.71), according to Kyodo News.

Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said the move is not expected to have an immediate impact on inbound tourism.

The adjustments are intended to align Japan’s visa fees more closely with those of other Group of Seven (G7) countries. — Bernama-Kyodo
