KOTA TINGGI, April 20 — A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days until April 26 in connection with a shooting incident in Taman Kota Jaya that left three people dead yesterday.
WASHINGTON, April 17 — President Donald Trump described the US conflict with Iran as a “little diversion” during his second term, even as recent polling indicates growing public disapproval of the war.
Speaking at an event in Las Vegas, Nevada promoting his “no tax on tips” policy under last year’s tax reform bill, the 79-year-old president highlighted his economic record since returning to office in 2025.
“We had the best economy in the history of our country in my first term. And we’re blowing it out now... And despite our little diversion to the lovely country of Iran, lovely place,” Trump told supporters, adding that military action was necessary to prevent “very bad things” from happening.
An Ipsos poll conducted last weekend found 51 per cent of more than 1,000 respondents believed the Iran war was not worth the cost, while only 24 per cent disagreed.
A separate Quinnipiac University survey showed 65 per cent of US voters blamed Trump for rising gas prices linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the conflict. The poll also found 58 per cent disapproved of Trump’s handling of Iran, compared with 36 per cent approval. — AFP
