ALBERTA, June 17 — President Donald Trump said yesterday he is confident that Iran will eventually agree to a nuclear deal, while hinting at unspecified actions the United States will take once he departs the G7 summit.

“I think a deal will be signed — or something will happen. But a deal will be signed,” Trump told reporters during the summit in Canada.

He added that Iran would be "foolish" not to reach an agreement, speaking alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Without offering details, Trump said, “As soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something. But I have to leave here first.”

He did not elaborate on what actions might follow. Trump is expected to depart the summit, held in the Canadian Rockies, today.

The US president has declined to confirm whether Washington would provide military assistance to Israel in any attempt to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program.

While previously stating that the US is not directly involved in Israel’s offensive, Trump has praised the military strikes and noted that Israel is using American-made weapons. — AFP
