WASHINGTON, Aug 25 — SpaceX has called off a scheduled test flight for its Starship megarocket on Sunday, citing the need for additional time to address issues, marking yet another setback for Elon Musk’s colossal project following a string of explosive failures.
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 — The United States (US) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Malaysia in celebration of the nation’s 68th Independence Day.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighted the strong and longstanding partnership between both countries, built on shared commitments to peace, security, and prosperity.
He noted that this cooperation was evident in recent joint efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, while expressing optimism about further strengthening bilateral relations in the years ahead.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my sincerest congratulations to the people of Malaysia on the 68th anniversary of Malaysia’s independence on August 31.
“The US and Malaysia have enjoyed a robust and enduring partnership over the decades, rooted in a shared vision of peace, security, and prosperity, as shown through our recent collaboration in promoting a ceasefire for Thailand and Cambodia.
“I look forward to advancing our ties as we shape a brighter future for both nations.
“With warmest congratulations from the US on this milestone, I wish all Malaysians a prosperous year ahead,” Rubio said in a message shared via the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur’s official Facebook page on Monday.
Rubio previously visited Malaysia in July for a series of Asean-related meetings, including the Asean-United States Post-Ministerial Conference, the East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the Asean Regional Forum (ARF) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
During his visit, he also met Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and regional counterparts, with discussions focusing on enhancing Indo-Pacific cooperation and expanding economic ties.
