KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 — The family of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh today demanded updates and accountability from the police regarding their investigation into her disappearance two months ago, while she was en route to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

They also questioned why Malaysian authorities have yet to alert Interpol about her case.

Representing the family, lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo said that despite police recording statements from 47 individuals since Ling vanished on April 9, investigators have yet to uncover any solid leads.

She added that the family had voluntarily provided more information than requested over the past six weeks but has received no meaningful feedback from the police regarding the progress of the investigation.

In a statement today, Sangeet posed six questions to the police, including whether officers from MACC were thoroughly questioned.

“Have the police (PDRM) identified the nature of the information Pamela was supposed to provide to the MACC, and who the interested parties were? Have statements been taken from those individuals?” she asked.

Sangeet also revealed that the family was informed weeks ago that one of the vehicles seen in CCTV footage of the abduction was later found abandoned near the Thai border, but they have received no updates on forensic testing of items recovered from the car.

“Considering the strong possibility she was taken across the border, the family was told a few weeks ago that Interpol had not yet been alerted. What exactly are the police waiting for?” she questioned.

She further inquired whether the police had followed their standard operating procedures for missing persons cases, and whether any external expert assistance had been sought.

Ling was scheduled to appear at MACC headquarters on April 9 for questioning related to a money laundering investigation but went missing after her e-hailing ride was intercepted by several unidentified individuals in multiple vehicles.

Her lawyer lodged a police report the same day when she failed to show up for the MACC appointment, and the case is currently being investigated as a missing persons case.
