KUALA LUMPUR,  Aug 26 — Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the Federal Territories Forestry Department is moving to gazette two new permanent forest reserves in the capital.

Addressing the Dewan Rakyat today, she stated that the proposal entails designating 20.57 hectares at Bukit Dinding and five hectares at Pulai Trail as permanent forest reserves.

"The Land Working Committee, which convened in March, has reviewed the application," she stated.

"This contributes to the latest official designation of a permanent forest reserve in 2021, specifically the Sungai Besi Forest Reserve, which encompasses an extra 23.83 hectares," she remarked.

Dr. Zaliha was addressing a follow-up inquiry from Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman, who inquired whether the ministry had particular strategies to expand forested areas in Kuala Lumpur to enhance air quality and promote public well-being.

Dr. Zaliha emphasized her recent professional trip to Italy, noting that the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) initiative could serve as an inspiration for comparable endeavors to incorporate additional greenery in Kuala Lumpur.
