KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 — Christmas spirit was evident nationwide today as Christians wrapped up last-minute preparations, with malls and public areas decorated in bright, winter-themed displays.

In the capital, decorations trader Dawt Hlei Sung, 42, said her family would celebrate simply by attending church, though she still planned to buy a gift for her daughter.

In MELAKA, the Portuguese Settlement continued to attract visitors with its signature festive decorations, with the Kristang community’s early preparations drawing about 50,000 local and foreign tourists so far.

In PENANG, shoppers were seen completing final purchases of essentials, decorations and gifts, while winter-themed malls remained a major attraction.

In JOHOR, busy malls reflected strong demand for festive food and gifts. Corporate executive V. Nithia, 42, said her family preferred a modest celebration at home, while Singaporean visitor Daniel Phoon, 35, described Johor Bahru as an affordable and convenient shopping spot. — Bernama
