KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, has issued a stern reminder to national leaders not to politicise sensitive matters, warning that doing so could sow discord among the people and jeopardise the country’s stability.

His Majesty cautioned that the emergence of more political parties or internal factions could deepen divisions and intensify hostility within society.

“Think wisely before making any decisions. There is no greater gift for me than a united rakyat,” he said.

“I have previously warned about a ‘virus’ threatening our nation. That virus is now spreading and incurable. I often speak about this as a reminder so we do not forget easily,” His Majesty added.

The King delivered these remarks during the Royal Address at the 2025 Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with his official birthday celebration at Istana Negara.

Also present at the event were Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia; Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil; and other Cabinet Ministers.

His Majesty further called on all Malaysians to uphold and strengthen national unity as a meaningful gesture to him.

Sultan Ibrahim also announced a Royal Tour across the Federal Territories, during which he will meet citizens, observe their living conditions, and distribute zakat (tithes) to the poor and the eight asnaf beneficiary groups. — Bernama
