MANCHESTER, April 28 — Manchester United moved closer to securing Champions League qualification with a 2-1 victory over Brentford on Monday, but interim manager Michael Carrick said the team must continue pushing to finish as high as possible in the Premier League.
MECCA, April 28 — Haj pilgrims have been reminded not to let social media distract them from the true purpose of their journey in the Holy Land.
Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) Haj Guidance Operations director Shahrin Awaluddin said the growing trend — especially among younger pilgrims — could affect the focus and completeness of their religious duties.
He stressed that while in Makkah and Madinah, pilgrims should fully concentrate on performing their rituals with sincerity and dedication, noting that Haj is an act of worship that requires total devotion in seeking closeness to Allah SWT.
Although social media use is not forbidden, he cautioned that excessive engagement may cause pilgrims to miss important rites such as tawaf, sa’i and particularly wuquf in Arafah.
Shahrin also assured that TH continues to closely monitor the welfare of Malaysian pilgrims throughout their stay, providing essential support including accommodation, transport, medical care and religious guidance to ensure smooth performance of Haj.
He added that assistance will be given to those who fall ill or face difficulties so they can still complete their pilgrimage.
Family members in Malaysia were advised not to worry, as pilgrims’ wellbeing — including health and worship — is being closely overseen.
The 1447H/2026M Haj operations began on April 18, involving 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims travelling in stages to Madinah and Makkah via chartered flights operated by AMAL by Malaysia Airlines and Saudia Airlines.— Bernama
