TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 — AirAsia will operate a total of 4,434 flights during the Chinese New Year travel period, with 150 additional domestic services scheduled between February 12 and 24 to meet increased festive demand.
The airline said the extra flights aim to help families reunite while keeping travel affordable, with subsidised one-way fares capped at RM600 and inclusive of a 20kg baggage allowance. AirAsia Malaysia general manager Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra said the move supports government efforts to ensure affordable travel during peak seasons, noting the carrier holds a 61 per cent share of domestic capacity.
The subsidised fares, offered on selected routes between Peninsular and East Malaysia, complement the airline’s earlier fixed-fare initiative, with seats still widely available. Services from major hubs such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru to destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Tawau will be boosted.
Passengers were encouraged to complete self check-in via the AirAsia website or AirAsia MOVE app up to 14 days before departure and to arrive early at airports to avoid congestion during the holiday rush.
