TURIN, Nov 12 — Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool became the first all-British duo to secure the year-end ATP doubles No. 1 ranking after defeating Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz 7-6(9), 6-2 at the ATP Finals.

The top seeds, who lost their opening match, have enjoyed a breakthrough year, winning seven Tour-level titles, including Wimbledon—the first all-British men’s doubles Grand Slam win since 1936—and the Canadian Masters 1000.

“We put a lot of work in during the off-season, and to be standing here now is surreal,” said Cash.

The pair now aim to cap the year by winning the Turin title, needing a win over Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos to advance from the group stage. — Reuters
