WASHINGTON, July 1 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit the White House next week for talks with President Donald Trump, as the U.S. intensifies efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. official confirmed on Monday.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 — DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke has dismissed claims of party instability following an incident at a recent event in Penang, where an aide to a senior leader heckled another party member.
Loke clarified that the disruption at DAP’s birthday dinner for Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang was an isolated case involving one individual who likely overreacted. “It does not reflect party instability,” he stated during another celebration for Kit Siang’s 84th birthday in Kuala Lumpur.
The event, hosted by Loke, was attended by key party figures, including ministers, deputy ministers, and central executive committee (CEC) members, reaffirming DAP’s unity. “When you see everyone here, you’ll know that DAP is a big family,” he said.
Regarding the recent resignations of Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun and Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai from the CEC, Loke emphasized that their decisions were based on fostering young leadership. “They spoke of the need to nurture the younger generation, and I respect that,” he said, adding that leadership renewal has always been a DAP tradition.
Loke also paid tribute to Kit Siang, acknowledging his guidance and inspiration in making critical political decisions. To honor his contributions, DAP will now hold an annual “family reunion” dinner on Kit Siang’s birthday.
Dismissing speculation about internal conflicts or preconditions for resignations, Loke reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity and leadership transition, ensuring DAP’s continued growth.
