KULIM, March 7 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim paid a visit to the Taman Selasih Ramadan bazaar here today.

Anwar arrived at the bazaar at about 5.45pm and was accompanied by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, as well as Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

During a 30-minute walkabout, the prime minister met and spoke with several of the 142 traders offering a variety of food and beverages.

A Bernama survey found that visitors had started gathering as early as 5pm in anticipation of the prime minister’s arrival.

Coconut water seller Muhammad Afiq Ikhwan Rosly, 19, said he was thrilled when he learned that Anwar would be visiting the bazaar.

“I’ve been doing business here for the past five years. I felt very proud and touched when the prime minister stopped by my stall shortly after arriving.

“However, due to the crowd and excitement, I didn’t manage to take a photo with him,” he said. — Bernama
