Army truck crashes after Menora Tunnel, leaving one dead and six injured

IPOH, Oct 2 — A soldier was killed and six others injured when an army truck skidded at KM257 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) after the Menora Tunnel yesterday.

IPOH, Oct 2 — A soldier was killed and six others injured when an army truck skidded at KM257 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) after the Menora Tunnel yesterday.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Sayani Saidon said a distress call was received at 4.59pm, prompting teams from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya fire stations to be dispatched to the scene.

“Five victims had already been rescued before our arrival, while two others were trapped at the rear of the truck.

“The deceased was extricated at 5.54pm, and another injured victim was freed at 6.14pm,” she said in a statement.

All victims were taken to Kuala Kangsar Hospital and Taiping Hospital for treatment. — Bernama
