LONDON, April 19 — Mikel Arteta has urged Arsenal to seize the moment as they prepare for a crucial Premier League showdown with Manchester City that could shape the title race.

Arteta said his side are “more than capable” of delivering a decisive result when the top two meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Arsenal currently lead City by six points but have played one match more.

Arsenal’s recent dip in form — with just one win in their last five games across all competitions — has given City renewed hope of mounting another comeback, after previously overhauling the Gunners in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 title races.

“Let’s be ourselves and go for it, put everything we have on that pitch,” Arteta said, calling for belief and conviction from his players.

“We are more than capable of doing it.”

Despite their inconsistency since losing the League Cup final to City last month, Arteta insisted Arsenal remain in a strong position as they chase a first league title in 22 years.

“We are exactly where we want to be. There have been many positives, and I don’t see anything holding us back,” he added.

City, meanwhile, arrive in strong form after convincing wins over Liverpool and Chelsea, but manager Pep Guardiola stressed that his side cannot afford any slip-ups as they chase a seventh league title in 10 years.

“We need that pressure,” Guardiola said. “If we don’t win, it’s over — they know it, we talk about that.” — AFP
