SEOUL, April 19 — North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles on Sunday, South Korea’s military said, marking the latest in a series of recent weapons launches by the nuclear-armed state.
JERUSALEM, April 18 — The Israeli military said it has set up a “Yellow Line” in southern Lebanon, similar to the dividing line used in Gaza, and has already launched strikes against suspected militants approaching its forces.
The army said troops operating south of the line identified individuals crossing from the north in violation of ceasefire terms and posing an immediate threat, prompting targeted attacks in several areas. It stressed that such actions, carried out in self-defence, are not restricted by the ceasefire.
In Gaza, a similar “Yellow Line” has been used since October 10 to separate areas under Israeli control from those held by Hamas.
Israel and Lebanon recently agreed to a 10-day ceasefire to negotiate an end to weeks of fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which has included heavy airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese authorities say the conflict has killed nearly 2,300 people and caused widespread destruction, particularly in southern regions.
While Hezbollah has paused operations under the truce, it warned it remains ready to respond to any violations. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called for direct talks with Israel to secure a lasting ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, prisoner returns, and resolution of border issues.
US President Donald Trump said Washington had urged Israel to halt strikes on Lebanon following the agreement, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled that operations against Hezbollah are not yet complete. — AFP
