KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Two foreign nationals have become the first individuals in Malaysia to be charged in court for littering under the newly enforced anti-littering law, according to a report by The Star.
BRISBANE, March 16 — Australian sprinting sensation Gout Gout ran the fastest men’s 200m in the world this year, feeling “literally free” as he crossed the finish line.
The 17-year-old first gained attention in December by breaking Usain Bolt’s 16-year-old record with a 20.04-second run, surpassing Peter Norman’s Australian record from 1968.
At the Queensland State Championships on Sunday, Gout ran 20.05 in the heats before clocking 19.98 in the final. However, the wind-assisted time was deemed ineligible.
“I had 80 meters left and thought, let’s send it,” he said. “Seeing the clock, I felt relieved. Now, I just need to do it consistently.”
Born in Australia to South Sudanese parents, Gout has drawn comparisons to Usain Bolt. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe called him a rare talent in need of careful guidance.
With a World Athletics Championships qualifying mark of 20.16, Gout has already surpassed the standard twice. — AFP
