PARIS, June 26 — Europe’s ongoing heatwave has intensified, with record-breaking temperatures straining health systems, disrupting daily life and prompting a series of emergency measures across the continent.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — Fuel supply across the nationwide network of Petronas petrol stations is expected to remain stable and sufficient until August, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
She said the projection was based on an official update from Petronas, presented during the weekly National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting. She added that the network accounts for about 50 per cent of Malaysia’s domestic fuel demand, supplied through Petronas’ listed subsidiary, Petronas Dagangan Bhd.
To ensure continued fuel security and coordinate responses to global energy pressures arising from the conflict in West Asia, she said a Crisis Management Task Force (PPPK) has been formed under MTEN.
The task force, she said, monitors the country’s fuel, petroleum and energy supply situation, while safeguarding supply stability in the coming months, as well as addressing price controls, smuggling and other irregular activities.
She also said efforts are being made to diversify crude oil imports from regions outside West Asia, including West Africa and the Americas, depending on crude compatibility and commercial viability.
She said this in reply to Khairil Nizam Khirudin (PN–Jerantut), who had asked about Petronas’ earlier statement that fuel supply at its stations was only guaranteed until the end of June 2026, as well as the government’s contingency plans should the global energy situation worsen. — Bernama
