BAC 2025: Malaysian Players Excel as Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin, Jin Wei, and More Advance to the Second Round

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani, moved into the second round of the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) in Ningbo, China, today. The top-seeded duo defeated Japan's Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi 21-18, 21-16.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani, moved into the second round of the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) in Ningbo, China, today. The top-seeded duo defeated Japan's Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi 21-18, 21-16.

They will face the winners of the match between Thailand's Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh, and Bangladesh's Jumar Al-Amin and Moajjam Hossain Ohidul in the next round.

Another Malaysian men's pair, Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, also advanced, overcoming Hong Kong's Law Cheuk Him and Yeung Shing Choi 21-14, 21-12. They will play against either Hong Kong's Hung Kuei Chun and Lui Chun Wai, or Taiwan's Liu Kuang Heng and Yang Po Han.

In the women's singles, Goh Jin Wei progressed to the second round, defeating Taiwan’s Sung Shuo Yun 21-16, 21-13 in 41 minutes. The former world junior champion will next face Thailand’s Supanida Katethong.

However, fellow Malaysian Wong Ling Ching, making her debut in the tournament, was eliminated in the first round after losing to Indonesia’s Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi 17-21, 21-16, 17-21.

National men’s singles player Leong Jun Hao also bowed out, falling to Taiwan’s Lin Chun Yi 11-21, 19-21. — Bernama
