LOS ANGELES, Sept 5 — Boxing icons Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have agreed to an exhibition bout scheduled for spring 2026, promoter CSI Sports announced Thursday.

While no venue or exact date has been confirmed, CSI said the matchup would pit heavyweight legend Tyson against the undefeated, multi-division champion Mayweather.

Tyson, 59, retired with a 50-7 record, including 44 knockouts, after a career that saw him dominate as one of the most feared heavyweights of his era. He last fought in November 2024, when he was outclassed by YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Arlington, Texas — a contest that drew about 70,000 spectators and millions of viewers worldwide.

Mayweather, 48, ended his professional career in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record and titles across five weight classes. Since then, he has taken part in several exhibitions, most recently a win over John Gotti III in Mexico in August 2024.

“When CSI approached me about fighting Floyd Mayweather, I thought it was impossible,” Tyson said in a statement. “But Floyd agreed. This is something neither I nor the world thought would ever happen. Boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is the ultimate example of that.” — AFP
