KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Police have arrested a 24-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of murdering his 62-year-old father, whose body was discovered in the living room of an apartment in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, early this morning.

Cheras district police chief Supt Ridzuan Khalid said the victim was found with severe facial and head injuries at 3.01am, leading to the son’s arrest.

“Initial investigations suggest the suspect was dissatisfied over family property matters. However, police are still probing to determine the exact motive,” he said in a statement today, adding that the suspect has been remanded for seven days.

The victim’s body was sent to Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Police urged anyone with information to contact the Cheras police hotline at 03-9284 5050/5051, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or the nearest police station. — Bernama
