NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
TAPAH, April 17 — China has expressed its willingness to share rare earth processing technology with Malaysia — a move expected to create higher economic value compared to exporting the raw materials.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said this technological collaboration could significantly increase national income while also benefitting state governments, as mineral resources fall under their purview.
“President Xi Jinping himself conveyed during yesterday’s (April 16) meeting with Malaysia that China is open to sharing this technology,” he told reporters at the Batu Tiga polling district centre.
“Rare earth is a blessing from Allah SWT to Malaysia. If sold in its raw form, the value is minimal. But once processed, its worth can rise 10 to 15 times.”
President Xi’s three-day state visit to Malaysia, which began on April 15, was at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
This marks Xi’s second official visit to Malaysia in 12 years. His previous visit in 2013 led to the elevation of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. — Bernama
