KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — A 28-year-old Chinese woman was arrested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after allegedly attempting to leave Malaysia using a forged travel document, The Star reported.
According to the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), the incident took place around 6.30pm on Friday at the International Departure Hall of KLIA Terminal 2, when an officer noticed irregularities during a routine document check.
The woman was scheduled to board a flight to Kunming at 9.30pm. Preliminary investigations found that she had presented an Electronic Pass (E-Pass) issued on July 22 and valid until July 20 next year. However, system checks revealed that no such pass existed, and it was believed to have been falsified and improperly obtained, AKPS said in a statement.
She was subsequently detained under the Immigration Act and is currently being held at the KLIA2 Immigration Depot pending transfer to the KLIA Enforcement Division for further investigation and legal action.
AKPS reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict control at the country’s entry and exit points and said it would not tolerate any attempts involving forged documents or immigration law violations.
The agency also urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities at border checkpoints to help strengthen Malaysia’s border security and sovereignty.
