KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — The remand of a 24-year-old driver involved in the fatal Jalan Ampang crash that killed a married couple on May 2 has been extended until May 15, starting today.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — The remand of a 24-year-old driver involved in the fatal Jalan Ampang crash that killed a married couple on May 2 has been extended until May 15, starting today.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the extension was approved by Kuala Lumpur High Court senior assistant registrar Munirah Wan Mustafa.

The suspect was brought to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters lock-up at 11am today for the remand extension application.

He said the investigation papers will be submitted to the Kuala Lumpur deputy public prosecutor’s office this afternoon for further instructions.

Previously, the suspect had been remanded for seven days beginning May 5 to assist investigations.

The 61-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife were killed at the scene after their motorcycle was hit from behind by a Toyota Vios at about 5.34am.

Police have carried out toxicology tests to determine whether the suspect was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, with results still pending.

The case, initially investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, has now been reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — Bernama
