PUTRAJAYA, June 7 — The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) has begun monitoring operations following reports of a mysterious bright light spotted in Sabah’s airspace earlier this week.

In a statement today, the ministry said its Space Regulatory Authority Division (BPAngkasa) had received preliminary information about the phenomenon, which was reportedly seen by members of the public on the night of June 4.

However, the ministry clarified that no official reports of debris, such as rocket fragments or other space objects, have been found on land or in Malaysian waters.

“Active monitoring is currently being conducted by BPAngkasa in cooperation with relevant agencies,” the statement said.

Mosti also reminded the public to remain cautious and avoid touching or handling any suspicious objects found in the area.

Instead, the public is urged to immediately report such findings to the authorities via the 999 emergency line.

Reports may also be submitted directly to BPAngkasa at 03-8885 8685 or via email at bpadg@Mosti.gov.my.

The ministry further cautioned against speculation that could trigger unnecessary alarm, stressing that accurate information should only be obtained from official government channels.
