KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — The Central Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) seized RM721 million worth of illegal electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) in coordinated raids across Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor last Saturday.

PGA Central Brigade commander Hakemal Hawari said Op Hazard, conducted with the Department of Environment (DOE) and local authorities, led to the arrest of 47 individuals in 12 raids—seven in Selangor, two each in Negeri Sembilan and Johor, and one in Melaka.

The detainees included five Malaysians (one woman) and 42 foreigners from Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, and Singapore. The case is being investigated under the Environmental Quality Act 1974, the Firearms Act 1960, and the Immigration Act 1963.

Hakemal emphasized PGA’s commitment to national security and urged the public to report smuggling activities to help curb illegal operations.

In a related operation, the Southeast Brigade of the PGA dismantled an illegal e-waste processing syndicate in Pahang, seizing RM410 million worth of materials from two factories in Pekan and Gebeng.
