KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — The 2026 DAP National Conference, initially set for July 12, has been postponed to August 16, said party secretary-general Anthony Loke.

He said the decision was made by the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) at a meeting last night after considering the dissolution of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state legislative assemblies, which has paved the way for state elections in both states.

“DAP will also defend all its incumbent seats in Johor and Negeri Sembilan and contest additional seats in Johor, subject to final negotiations with our Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties by the end of this week,” he said in a statement today.

Loke added that candidate selection for the two state elections will be decided by the party’s Candidate Selection Committee.

The committee comprises Loke, DAP national chairman Gobind Singh Deo, deputy national chairman Nga Kor Ming, Wanita chief Teo Nie Ching, and DAP parliamentary leader Chong Chieng Jen.

He also said DAP will campaign actively in both Johor and Negeri Sembilan to help secure Pakatan Harapan victories.

On Monday, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the 56-seat Johor state assembly effective June 1 after receiving consent from the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail.

Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the 36-seat state assembly would be dissolved today after receiving consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. — Bernama
