BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
WASHINGTON, April 21 — Representatives linked to Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace” have reportedly held discussions with DP World on potential roles in managing supply chains and infrastructure projects in Gaza, the Financial Times reported Tuesday.
Rebuilding Gaza — where about 80 per cent of structures have been destroyed after two years of Israeli bombardment — is estimated by international bodies to cost roughly US$70 billion (RM280 billion).
Quoting three sources familiar with the matter, the report said talks focused on a possible partnership between DP World and the Board of Peace to oversee logistics operations. This would include handling humanitarian aid and other goods entering Gaza, covering areas such as warehousing, tracking systems and security.
The discussions also explored proposals for constructing a new port either within Gaza or along the nearby Egyptian coast, potentially led by the UAE-based company, along with the development of a free-trade zone in the devastated territory.
Both DP World and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Trump first introduced the idea of a “Board of Peace” last September as part of his broader plan to end the Israel-Gaza conflict, later suggesting it could also be applied to other global disputes.
