KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Police have arrested a 24-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of murdering his 62-year-old father, whose body was discovered in the living room of an apartment in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, early this morning.

Cheras district police chief Supt Ridzuan Khalid said the victim was found with severe facial and head injuries at 3.01am, leading to the son’s arrest.

“Initial investigations suggest the suspect was dissatisfied over family property matters. However, police are still probing to determine the exact motive,” he said in a statement today, adding that the suspect has been remanded KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Dr L. Sivanaesan has been chosen as the new President-Elect of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).

In the MMA elections held in August, members nationwide placed their confidence in Dr Sivanaesan to lead the association.

He will serve a one-year term as President-Elect before officially taking on the presidency in 2026.

“This will be the greatest responsibility of my career,” he shared in a Facebook post today.

Dr Sivanaesan’s involvement with the MMA began as a student member. Over the years, he has held several key positions, including Exco Member of Perak MMA, Exco and State Chairman of Selangor MMA, Chairman of the National Private Practitioners Section, and two terms as MMA Honorary Deputy Secretary. — Bernama
